Director

Andrea Pesavento 

Andrea Pesavento is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She earned her B.S. in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology from the State University of New York College at Cortland and her Masters of Social Work from Adelphi University. Andrea is able to provide one-on-one confidential support for students for alcohol and other substances. She also provides one-on-one support and referrals for nutrition, sexual health, helping a friend, or any other health/wellness concern. Andrea is from the Hudson Valley, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, hiking, and being outdoors.

Sam Hoher 

Sam graduated in May 2017 with a Religion major and Women's Studies correlate. She joined the office because she’s passionate about making resources accessible and available to students so they can thrive during their time here. Sam works closely with the Wellness Peer Educators to provide programs about health and wellness for students. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, playing board games, and spending time with friends.

Wellness Peer Educators 

Jake ’19- Lathrop House 

Jake is a Political Science and Biology double major. He is the Wellness Peer Educator of Lathrop. Jake studies chickadees on the Vassar Farm and is an endurance sport enthusiast. He has worked as an athletic trainer and is a member of VCEMS. Health topics he is particularly interested include sleep hygiene, postural strengthening, and healthy habit formation. In his free time, he can be found in Gordon Commons arguing that the vast variety of breakfast cereals available at supermarkets today is proof that human civilization has reached its zenith.

Julie ’19- Main House

Julie is from Brooklyn NY and is a Science Technology and Society major. She hopes to become an OB/GYN & earn a degree in public health to fight for equity in reproductive healthcare. She has interned in a birthing center, at an abortion clinic, with a local community health center GYN, and at Planned Parenthood and is excited to use the skills she’s acquired as Main’s Wellness Peer Educator this year. She loves sleeping in her hammock, eating lots of ice cream, and taking long showers while blasting music.

Robin '19- Raymond House

Robin is a Biology major from Los Angeles with hopes to study Public Health. He has worked at a women's health center, specifically working with pre-natal care, as well as study Public Health in Colombia. He is on the ALANA Senior Council as the Class Liaison between the Senior Class Council. This is his fourth year in the office, and his third year as Wellness Peer Educator.

Anya ’20- Noyes House

Anya is from Bel Air, Maryland. She is a Psychology and Biology double major. She is the Wellness Peer Educator for Noyes. This is her third year in the office. She is the treasurer of the dance group HYPE. She enjoys watching Netflix with her friends and listening to music. Anya feels proud when people come to her with health and wellness questions. Her favorite health topics include sexual health, alcohol and other drugs, as well as the intersection of personal identity and different health topics.

Brenna ’20- Davison House

Brenna is a Neuroscience and Behavior major with a correlate in Chemistry. Brenna hopes to make Vassar a healthier campus through health education, and she is particularly interested in STI prevention, contraceptives, substance abuse prevention, and mental health. In addition to being Davison House’s Wellness Peer Educator, she is a House Fellow Intern in Davison; an EMT with VCEMS and with the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department in Maryland; the Student Development coordinator for The Underground, an organization that raises awareness for human trafficking; and she is involved with the Good Neighbors committee. In her free time Brenna loves baking, and coloring.

Esperanza ’20- Strong House

Esperanza is from San Diego, California and spent her entire life there until she left for Vassar. She is a Biochemistry major and is the Wellness Peer Educator for Strong House. She is also a Transitions Student Leader and part of HYPE, a dance group on campus. She's very excited about the newest addition to Gordon Commons: the printer. Fun fact: she really loves to nap!

Maya ’20- Jewett House

Maya is a Psychology major with a Biology correlate from Columbus, Ohio. She is currently the Wellness Peer Educator for Jewett House and planning to pursue nursing after Vassar. Along with her work in the office, she is also an active member of Project Period, Vassar Voices for Planned Parenthood, and Student Theater. She has a passion for reproductive justice and providing quality, accessible health care to marginalized communities. Fun fact: she is right-handed!

Lauren ’21- Cushing House

Lauren is a prospective Psychology major on the Pre-Med track. Her interest in healthcare and disease prevention led her to become a WPE. She enjoys being involved in Vassar Voices for Planned Parenthood, visiting the Women’s Center, and playing tennis in her free time.

Susannah ’21- Josselyn House

Susannah is from Atlanta, Georgia and has yet to declare a major, but is interested in Psychology, Neuroscience, Drama, and Chemistry. This is Susannah’s first year working for the office, and Susannah hopes to help peers make more informed decisions for their lives while serving as the Wellness Peer Educator for Joss. During free time, Susannah enjoys singing in the Vassar College Women’s Choir, visiting the LGBTQ+ center on campus, knitting, being with friends, and eating mac and cheese.

Julia ”22

Julia is a prospective Computer Science major. She lives in New York City, but grew up near Vassar. This is her first year working with the office. She worked to educate her high school peers on health education and is very happy to be continuing this at Vassar. She loves running and is on the Women’s Rugby team. Go Brewers!

Zoya ’22

Zoya is a prospective Economics major from New Delhi, India. She is passionate about spreading awareness about sexual and reproductive health and wants to continue to pursue this passion by working in the office. On campus, she enjoys participating in the South Asian Students Alliance and the dance group HYPE. In her free time, she likes baking, spending time with friends and playing badminton.
